Moiner is an emerging interdisciplinary design studio that operates across the realms of architecture, interiors, and furniture. Led by Registered architect isabelle Jooste, the furniture series has come out of years of her observation of residential construction sites, in which skip fulls of demolished materials were removed to be replaced by truck loads of materials imported from Europe.

Gaia table

The tapestry table series are crafted entirely out of construction waste. Every design decision has been informed by the wider availability of thinner strips of framing timber. This series aims was developed around the concept of viewing renovation materials as a treasure trove of found objects, allowing the re-use if these to challenge and enhance our conventional design processes.

The materials featured include reclaimed messmate and 100-year-old salvaged antique tiles with a speckled glaze. The pockmarks in the timber and irregularities in the antique glaze are reminiscent of faded tattoos and sun-baked skin, indicators of a rich and storied past -life
