Eliza is a Melbourne-based Industrial Design student with a love of craft. She is captivated by the process of transforming raw, natural materials like timber and clay into meaningful objects that age gracefully. Post-graduation she is excited to see where a career as a designer/maker will take her.’

Pool Table

The ‘Pool table’ is a contemporary interpretation of the iconic Danish mid-century tiled coffee tables from the 1970s. It emerged from my fascination with blending timber and ceramics seamlessly in furniture design. The timber frame was crafted utilising traditional woodworking techniques and joinery in addition to CNC machining. The tiles were hand-pressed in plaster moulds at my kitchen table and fired with a beautiful Ming glaze. The entire process from start to finish is documented on my website.
