Get a sneak peek of Bodhi Living, a first-time exhibitor at this year's Design Show Australia in ICC Sydney. Bringing a blend of old-world charm and contemporary sophistication, Bodhi Living is set to introduce their distinctive approach to design. With a focus on curated pieces that tell a story, they're excited to unveil their latest outdoor collection, 'Cali', crafted from sustainably sourced Guyana teak. 

Can you give us a brief introduction to your brand?

Bodhi Living is a contemporary furniture store based in Byron Bay. We opened our doors in 2020, initially importing one of a kind antiques from India and Morocco as well as working with talented local artisans and suppliers from the Northern rivers and around Australia. Now, our offering includes our own collections of sustainably made furniture that we design and manufacture, as well as international designer brands, rugs, homewares and lighting. We look for distinct character, outstanding quality and natural beauty in everything we either design or source. We believe in the importance of each piece serving a functional purpose whilst adding warmth and beauty to the modern home.

What differentiates your brand from other competitors in the market?

We love curating the old and the new, incorporating one of a kind pieces that ensure no space looks the same. Our ethos is to encapsulate freedom of spirit and authenticity, with curated pieces that each have their own story to tell. Our clients have their own story, so we try to differentiate by using these unique aspects to inspire and create interiors with form, function, beauty, and soul.

What can our visitors expect to see and experience on your stand at Design Show Australia?

Visitors can expect to be immersed into the vibrant world of Bodhi Living, which before the furniture and design aspects, starts with meeting us! We love meeting people and sharing stories that inspire the pieces we design. We look forward to bring richness into our stand at the Design Show Australia, showcasing our most popular items from our own collections and some special pieces from some of the other artisans and global brands we represent.

Are there any exciting trends that you are seeing in the world of design this year?

We love the revival of natural, worn materials, products that connect us to nature. Be it recycled stone, or concrete shaped into organic shapes, or reclaimed timbers that have been repurposed to age further graciously and blend seamlessly into an interior or exterior.

Could you highlight any recent collaborations or projects that have been particularly impactful for your brand?

We have had some amazing opportunities of late to collaborate with clients with their beautiful forever homes. We have some great content that for now remains a secret but will hopefully be available come the Design Show in June. Its such an honor to be able to place our pieces in these interiors, that mean so much to the client as well as us. These opportunities allow us to source the perfect piece or custom make bespoke items to perfectly match the architecture.

Are there any product launches we can expect to see at Design Show Australia this June?

We are very excited to be launching our new outdoor ‘Cali’ collection. Made from Guyana teak, from timber that has been submerged underwater for 70 years from a flooded rainforest in South America. As the timber hasn’t been exposed to oxygen or pests the trees are very well preserved and extremely hardy. They have also been sustainably harvested from a forest of already dormant trees! We have been very excited to launch this new collection as we know it will be a perfect fit for our climate here in Australia. We are also proud of how we have been able to produce this collection in the most sustainable way, staying true to our ethos whilst introducing a new collection we believe is classic and timeless for the Australian outdoors.

What are you looking forward to the most at Design Show Australia?

As first time exhibitors at the show there is a lot we are looking forward too! We can’t wait to connect with a diverse array of creative minds, businesses and design lovers to exchange ideas, get inspired and foster new connections within the design community!
